THE FACE BEHIND WILSON & HART

Wilson and Hart was born in 2019 when I returned home from honeymoon with my husband after a relaxing time in tropical far north Queensland feeling pumped and excited to turn my creative visions into reality.

Wilson is my family name and Hart is my husband's grandfather’s surname.

I used to speak to him on the phone from Australia to the UK and we always ended up laughing until we cried - this is to honor him..... for making us laugh.

I'd grown up with a creative family, with both grandmothers sewing, one being a seamstress for George's Department Store in Melbourne and the other a Calisthenics teacher. They both taught me how to sew. I have fond memories of sitting with one of them sewing sequins and seed beads onto costumes (I wasn't allowed to pack up until I'd finished my black and gold Madonna bra in 1992). From there I carried on being an annoying teenager but was always creative either dancing the latest moves in aisle 5 of a Woolies supermarket whilst her brother died of embarrassment and mum just carrying on. I'd cut up clothes and make new ones, sometimes with accidental tie dying -

Sorry Mum. Speaking of Mum, she is one of the most creative people I know. She can sew, knit, paint, draw, cook and of course dance. Did I mention we like dancing? Mum has always been the biggest supporter of whatever we want to do, she's always been positive and encouraging and her motto is 'You'll never know until you give it a go" so I always give it a go even if it seems scary or you might fail, just like whatever.....just do the thing.

During the early 2000's I decided to make the trip to the UK for a working holiday, I was gone 12 months and was fully immersed in London life. I worked right near Camden Town and this is where I saw so much individuality and freedom - from there there was no holding me back.

I was so bummed out about the neutral shades I was seeing in everyday run of the mill fashion that I wanted to change all that as the world should never be dull, it should be full of colour. I wanted a clutch purse that had different embellishments, vibrant colors and textures and ergonomic zips and handles and to also be hardwearing. So I made one

From crazy colour combinations to sleek and soft velvet, I'll always make bags that are different and that make you feel special because you are, you beautiful human!

All bags are Australian made, handmade in my Melbourne studio, with love and care. Every Wilson and Hart customer gets something that is unique to them.

Bag addicts rejoice, I'll always listen to what you want and what you need and then try and incorporate it into my bags.
